365 Days, 524 Recipes

Had great fun watching a cooking movie last night. When I say that I don't mean a MasterChef type of thing but an actual film, Julie & Julia, which is about Julie, a New Yorker who works by day at a call centre dedicated to resolving the problems of 9/11 families and cooks/blogs by night. Looking for a creative break from the stress of all the calls she gets, and using a Julia Child cookbook she 'stole' from her mom's bookshelf as inspiration, she decides to spend the next year trying out the recipes one by one, and blogging about it. The film has two parts: Julie's experiment (Amy Adams is really good in this role), and the original Julia's life in Paris (vintage Meryl Streep) as she learns to be a Cordon Bleu Chef and writes the cookbook that Julie will use decades later. Bloggers will love this film.

Talking of cooking, has anyone caught the TV show Donna Hay's Fast, Fresh, Simple recipes? It's finally a show where the recipes are so simple and the cooking tips so real one can remember them!

PS: for those who came in late, a guide to gazpacho
